Dates Coconut Ladoo

Hey friends! The festive spirit is in full swing. I love this time of the year. The Diwali lights at my home will be up soon and I can totally feel the Diwali vibe around the city. The frenzy in the market, the lights, the Diya, and the delicious desserts. It's all just so so so good! I wish I could capture this excitement in a jar and tuck it away somewhere safe 🙂

Diwali is always special for me. It's a time of happiness, a time to let loose of inhibitions and celebrate with everyone. I love Diwali because it's one festival which is so much more than just a festival, right! There's happiness around the house and it's a time which is marked by cherished memories for all of us.

Let's talk about the Taste of these Dates Laddus

To describe it in one world, these tastes - Heavenly! What I love about These Ladoos is that they are perfectly sweetened even without adding any extra sugar. The desiccated Coconuts add a nice crunch and chewy taste to these Ladoos. Also, the Khoya plays its part in making this dessert an extraordinary one!

This Dates Coconut Ladoo is one of the best festive Desserts which you should be baking this year. This tastes delicious and is totally healthy.

Dates are filled with proteins and are extremely healthy. While Coconut is something we all love at this time of the year, especially in our Laddus. This makes for a brilliant combination and is just so tasty.

Ingredients I have used to make these Ladoos

  • 1 cup Dates (de-seeded and chopped) - I have de-seeded the Dates and pureed them using some water.
  • 2 Tbsp Ghee
  • ½ cup Desiccated Coconut - I have used homemade desiccated coconut. You can use store-bought desiccated coconut as well.
  • ½ cup Cashew Nut and Raisins - I have chopped and toasted the Cashew Nuts and then used it.
  • ¼ cup Khus Khus or Poppy Seeds - I have used toasted the khus khus and then used it.
  • ¾ cup Khoya (grated)

Making the Dates Coconut Ladoo

  • Begin by chopping the dates and removing the seeds. Now take it up in a mixer grinder jar. Blend it into a smooth puree by adding some water.
  • Now, dry roast the Khus Khus in a Pan, until it gets toasty and keeps aside.
  • In the same pan, add some ghee and toast the chopped Cashew Nuts. Once they get toasted, take it out on a plate and keep aside.
  • Add more Ghee in the same Pan. Add the Dates Puree and toast until it gets fragrant. Add the shredded Coconut and Khoya. Mix well until combined. Once it starts to leave the Pan, turn off the flame.
  • Now add the dry fruits and mix well. Allow the mixture to cool down and once it's cooled to room temperature, make small balls and dust with the Toasted Khus Khus.
  • Enjoy!
