Dark Chocolaty Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream topped with chocolate shavings and chocolate chips is a true delight in itself.
When we talk about Ice creams Chocolate is like the king of all. Of course, there is Vanilla, there is strawberry, there is Mango Ice cream, there is banana ice cream but, if there is one recipe that simply stands out of all then that is Chocolate Ice Cream.
Now, there are many varieties of Chocolate Ice Cream. The ones that I love the most is "Choco Bar" and "Nutty Roll". However these days the ones that I tend to go for are Magnum Chocolate Ice cream and Of course, my favorite one is Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream.
You know the best part about chocolate ice cream is that dark, chocolaty taste along with that nuttiness. Both of them make an excellent combination. Also, have you checked out my Peanut Butter Cupcake with Chocolate Frosting? It is a must-try for chocolate lovers.
I think that chocolate without some nuttiness is not good. I always look for some nuttiness. But, my twin brother is not like that. He prefers dark, smooth chocolate. Especially milk chocolate. No wonder he is a huge fan of "Dairy Milk" I mean every time is a good time for him to enjoy this delicious chocolate.
BUT both of us have a common meeting point when it comes to chocolate. It is Belgian chocolate ice cream. Both of us simply love it. It is like our special dessert that ends the meal perfectly. Without it, everything feels sort of incomplete.
So, today, we decided to make Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream at home! And, what an exciting thing it was to just imagine making Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream at home.
Both of us have made several ice creams in the past. Starting from Plain Vanilla Ice Cream to Strawberry Ice Cream to Cherry Chocolate Ice Cream to Blackcurrent Ice Cream, we have made it all.
Today, we were gonna try our favorite Chocolate Ice Cream. And, we were Super-Duper excited about it.
How to Make Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream at Home
To make this ice cream you do not need an Ice Cream Maker. I made this at home with the help of an electric beater. If you have a stand mixer you can work with that as well.
The First step is to melt chocolate. It is always advisable to melt chocolate in a double boiler. But, make sure that you don't cook the chocolate. The heat should be very less all the while.
In another bowl whip heavy cream until you see stiff peaks. Add some sweetened condensed milk and mix it well. Lastly mix your melted chocolate, along with some cocoa powder and your Belgian chocolate Ice Cream is ready.
Lastly, top it with some dark chocolate chips, and your tasty Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream is done. Set it for approximately 24 hours in the freezer and it is done.
Let's Talk Taste!
Taste-wise this chocolate Ice Cream is really chocolaty and the addition of chocolate chips makes it nutty and all the more chocolaty. I also add some sweetened condensed milk because too much dark chocolate is not tasty at all. So, keep in mind that you have to add a little sweetener to your ice cream.
Finally, when you have whipped it perfectly it will taste amazing.
A Little Science Trick Behind all this Deliciousness
We whip the cream and chocolate until we see stiff peaks. This step is important because through this step we are incorporating air in our heavy cream. This air will make our ice cream smooth and silky and simply perfect.
When melting chocolate, always do that on a double boiler with some butter. Make sure your chocolate is smooth and silky. Adding butter will make it smooth. Never ever cook your chocolate. So keep the flame low at all times. Chocolate tends to cook fast. So be very careful. If you feel that the pan is getting hot then turn off the flame and cover your pan with a lid or a plate. It will melt on its own. No need to hurry. Be very patient while melting chocolate. In case you see that it is getting granular texture and is not smooth enough, add some butter and it will make it smoother and silkier.
